One of the oldest Catholic sacramentals, worn for protection against evil. The letters are the initials of Latin prayers: on the cross, Crux Sacra Sit Mihi Lux (May the holy cross be my light); around the edge, Vade Retro Satana (Begone, Satan).
A small cross of St. Benedict, made to be carried close. A companion for spiritual protection in daily life.
size 1 1/4" (3 cm)
The front shows the crucifix raised in gold-tone relief over black enamel, with Christ's arms outstretched. At the center, above Christ's halo, appears the St. Benedict medal with its exorcism formula.
The reverse bears the St. Benedict medal at the crossing, showing the figure of the saint holding the cross and the Rule. Around the rim runs the traditional inscription invoking protection against evil.
St. Benedict of Nursia is the father of Western monasticism and patron saint against evil spirits. This cross serves monks, students, travelers, and anyone seeking spiritual defense in a fallen world.
The cross is made of metal alloy with black enamel. It is fitted with a silver-tone jump ring for wearing on a chain or rosary. Blessed by Pope Leo XIV in St. Peter's Square.
