Printed while Padre Pio was still honored as Venerabile, this vintage holy card pairs a color photograph of the saint with a child alongside an ex-indumentis relic sealed by the postulator.
Size: 4 1/4 x 3 inches (7.5 cm)
Front: color photograph of Padre Pio with a small child, titled "Venerabile Padre Pio da Pietrelcina" with his 1887 and 1968 dates
Inside: prayer to St. Pio and a chaplet to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in Italian
Relic: ex-indumentis (a small piece of a vestment) with postulator seal; recently touched to the shrine of Saint Pio
Condition: vintage original, from a Catholic convent
Shipping: Ships from Rome, Italy
The Venerabile title dates this card to the years before the 2002 canonization, when devotion to the friar of Pietrelcina was already spreading far beyond Italy. That makes it two things at once: a relic card for daily prayer and a genuine artifact from the history of his cause.
